FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

God wants you to give your life to Him by taking three steps:

  • accepting that you are a sinner. Rom 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God”.
  • placing faith in Jesus–believing Jesus died for the bad things you have done, was buried, and rose again.
  • confessing Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour. In Romans 10:9-11 (NIV) the Bible says, If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

When you give your life to God by believing in Jesus, God gives you the Holy Spirit (1 John 4:13). The Holy Spirit helps you live your life for God. You no longer live for yourself. Instead, you now live for God.

Each day, you can choose to live for God—not for yourself. This can be hard sometimes, but it is always worth it. By giving your life to God, you will make God happy, and He will help you become the best you can be!

You can become more like Christ by learning about Him in the Bible and applying what you learn to your life.

The path to becoming more like a person begins with studying (Joshua 1:8 KJV) and understanding that person. In like manner, learning about Jesus would require reading the Bible and studying how Jesus lived, how He reacted to others, and how He treated people. Once you know Jesus better, you will be able to become more like Him.

The next step is putting the knowledge you learned into practice (James 1:22-23 KJV). When you read the Bible, it should touch your heart. It should change the way you view things.

Becoming more like Christ will take time. It won’t happen overnight. As you deepen your relationship with Him through prayers and meditating on God’s word, your character will begin to reflect Christ. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you will become more and more like Christ each day.
Obviously, the first step to learning about Him would be accepting Him as your Savior and then living for Him afterwards.

The purpose of life is to glorify God in all that we do!

1 Pet 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light”.

The world has several definitions to fulfilling purpose in life. You may hear that it is to become famous, have a huge follower base on social media, or to become wealthy. Mostly centred around self and for us as Christians our lives are not meant to serve ourselves.

What the world defines as success / fulfilling are all ephemeral. The Bible tells you there is a purpose to life and that is to glorify God in all that we do. You can do that by first accepting Jesus as your Savior. After you have believed in Jesus, you can follow Him and look to Him for guidance.

You have a very important purpose in life that only you can accomplish. The purpose of every person’s life is to know God, keep away from sin, obey His commandments, (Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV), share His Gospel and ultimately add positive values to the life of others because this is what is rewarded eternally. Matthew 25:36-40 “I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me”.

God is excited to do life with you!

“Living for Jesus” means that we continue to make Jesus known today. We show the world through our actions and words that Jesus is living in us.

The dictionary defines living as “continuing to be alive.” God wants us to live a life that honors Him. When we live a life that honors God, we are living our life for Him. While Jesus is not physically on earth, we can show the world that Jesus is living inside of us by our actions and our words. Sometimes it is hard for us to live for Jesus. Someone at work might make fun of our faith, or we might be going through a rough time, but no matter what happens in life, we can still do our best to live for Jesus.

Paul, in Galatians 5:22-23, talks about the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is “love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself.” This verse tells how we can be like Jesus when our lives reflect these fruits in our relationship with colleagues, neighbours, friends and our families.

Another way we show that we are living for Jesus is to place our faith in Him. Faith is important for us because “without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). The Bible defines faith as “being sure of what we hope for and being sure of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).

The same Hebrews 11 further discusses how people (like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah and the list goes on) demonstrated great faith in difficult situations for us to learn from.

Our love to others is demonstrated through our actions.

True love is not found in us, it’s found in God! That is why the Bible says, “What is love? It is not that we loved God. It is that he loved us and sent his Son to give his life to pay for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
I Cor 13:4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Therefore, true love does not seek its own but considers what will also be beneficial to the other party (particularly in relationships). It is also loving without expecting anything in return which can be shown by giving to those who are unable to repay us back and creating a room of forgiveness in our hearts even before anyone wrongs us.
So, true love is demonstrated not just in words but also in our actions towards others (1 John 3:16–18).

Prayer can seem very confusing because there are so many forms in so many different beliefs. For us as Christians, prayer is speaking and pouring our heart directly to God. It is the expression of our inner spiritual needs. Through prayer we can find strength of spirit, guidance, wisdom, joy and inner peace.
For us as Christians, prayer may be long or short, alone or in a group, silent or aloud, but it should be a true communication with God and not done for public recognition. Matt 6:5-6.
In the words of Smith Wigglesworth “I don’t often spend more than half an hour in prayer at one time, but I never go more than half an hour without praying”.

The “church” is a group of people (not the building / leased space) who have accepted Jesus’ free gift of salvation and who share common views about the Christian faith. The Bible encourages us not to forsake the assembly of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25).
In Acts 2:42, we learn that the purpose of the church is to:

  • Pray together – We are called to pray for each other. Matt 18:19-20.
  • Study the Bible – The church helps us learn and grow in the knowledge of the truth about God and the Bible.
  • Share lives and experiences together – The church is a platform that enables us to fellowship together and support each other to achieve God’s purpose for each other’s lives.
  • Outreach – As a community, we gather together to tell others about Jesus and His gift of salvation. We also help our communities by serving those who are less fortunate.

When someone is fasting, it means they’re giving up something for a time so they can focus more on God.

In Bible times, people who believed in God would often fast and pray when they wanted to show God they were serious about something. They would give up food for a certain amount of time and spend hours talking to God. Sometimes they did this when they wanted to show God how sorry they were about something they did. Sometimes they fasted and prayed when they needed something from God.

  • “The prophets and teachers fasted and prayed. They placed their hands on Barnabas and Saul. Then they sent them off” (Acts 13:3).
  • “So we didn’t eat anything. We prayed to our God about all of those matters. And he answered our prayers” (Ezra 8:23).

Fasting helps us to focus completely on God. People in the Bible gave up food when they fasted, but we can also fast from other things like movies, social media, books, and more. We don’t have to give up these things forever—just for a period of time to honor God or show Him how serious we are about something.

You can fast and pray no matter how old you are. It’s good for anyone, of any age, to show God they want to focus only on Him for a while. However, we encourage children to check in with their parents (particularly around the duration of fasting) if you want to fast from food.

To trust God means that we believe God will do what He says He will do, even if it seems humanly impossible.

The dictionary defines the word trust as “to be confident.” It is important to trust God when our life turns upside down. Sometimes it seems impossible to trust God when someone in the family gets sick or we lost our jobs / source of livelihood. However we can choose to trust God when life is difficult because we place faith in Him. Throughout the Bible, we see many examples of people who trust God–Abraham, David, Jesus, and on and on. They trusted God no matter the challenge was.

The story of David and Goliath is an exciting story to read in I Sam 17. But have you ever wondered why David was able to face the giant and defeat him while the other Israelites (including the King) were fearful? David was able to face the giant and defeat him because he trusted that God would help him. I Sam 17:45 “David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied”.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

God speaks to us through the Bible. We can also communicate with God through prayer. The Holy Spirit can tell us things too. He guides us through the Bible. If the Bible tells you to do something, then the right thing to do is follow God’s directions.

God only tells you to do the right thing. He would never want you to do something bad. You can never go wrong if you follow the Bible. The Bible is a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

Praying can also help you discern what God is telling you. If you spend time in prayer and reading the Bible, you will learn to recognize God’s voice. God can nudge you to take a step of faith in a particular direction.

God also speaks to us through His servants 2 Chron 20:202-22b “Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”

Holiness is being set apart by God. You can be holy by believing in Jesus.

God is holy (1 Samuel 2:2). This means that God is 100 percent perfect. There is nobody like God.

Israel, God’s people, were commanded to be holy in Leviticus 11. This was God setting Israel apart from the rest of the world. Likewise, God wants believers today to be holy. We should live differently from those who are unbelievers.

Being set apart means we don’t become like the world. We are part of God’s holy nation (1 Peter 2:9). The first step to holiness is accepting Jesus and His salvation message. After you become a believer, you have to continue to place faith in Christ to daily assist you in the journey so you can always thrive in living for Him. I Sam 2:9b “For by strength shall no man prevail”.

The Bible tells of many events that will occur before the Second Coming and which will be signs that the end is near. There will be wars, famines, earthquakes, false prophets, persecutions, and an increase in wickedness. The Gospel must first be preached to all nations.

In all honesty many of these events are already upon us however, Jesus tells us that “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.” (NIV, Mark 13:32-33).

So what do we need to do – Because we do not know when Jesus will come again for the final judgment, we must always be prepared. Jesus’ Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) speaks directly to the need to be spiritually prepared for His second coming which will culminate into the final judgment.

Rapture describes the form of Christ second coming and the harvest of the faithful Christians at His return.

The term Rapture is used to refer to the faithful believers being taken up to meet Christ in the air as described in this passage written by the apostle Paul:

I Thes 4:13-17: But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever.
